Please join us for the 2nd Annual Safar Splash-In at the Palatka sandbar hosted by Safar Seaplane Base! 

BOATERS: 

• Be mindful and respectful of the seaplanes and give them plenty of room to land, park, and take off. 
• Leave the West side of the sandbar open (train trestle side) for the seaplanes.
•  Planes need lots of room with their wings so please leave them room to park and leave without blocking them in. 

This is only the second year for this event so I kindly ask all my local river rats to help keep this portion of the sandbar free from boats the day of the event so they can get parked and leave safely.

PILOTS: 

• Unfortunately this is for SEAPLANES ONLY - We wish all could join but there is only the option of water landings. 
• The sandbar is located on the St. Johns River (fresh water with less than 0.5% salt) 
• Approximately 4 miles south of the Palatka Airport (28J) and just East of the train trestle. 
• You can land on either side of the sandbar depending on wind direction on the day of the event 
• Seaplanes parking will be on the West side of the sandbar (train trestle side). 
• The St. Johns River does have a channel, channel markers, and is a navigable water way so be mindful of boat traffic. 
• Use frequency 123.15 to communicate with seaplanes in the area. 
• The sandbar can be between 20-40” deep, depending on the tide, so make sure you bring ropes, anchors, bumpers, etc. 
• This is a WET event so make sure you bring towel and prepared to be knee deep in water. 

LUNCH/SNACKS: 

• Captain Jason Keating will be selling lunches from his pork pontoon 
• The River Rat Snack Shacks will be selling boiled peanuts 

Load up your families and friends and come enjoy a fun day on the water!
